The short answer
Xtream Codes is a login format for IPTV: a username, a password and a server URL. Players that support it (IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate, IBO Player, XCIPTV) use those three details to load live channels, the TV guide, movies and series automatically. An M3U link is the older alternative: one long URL with the channel list. For most people, Xtream Codes is easier and works better.
What does Xtream Codes mean?
The name comes from the panel software many IPTV providers once used. The software itself is long gone, but its login format — called the Xtream Codes API — became the standard way IPTV players talk to a server. When a provider says “Xtream login” or “XC login”, they mean those three details.
Xtream Codes vs M3U
| Xtream Codes API | M3U playlist | |
|---|---|---|
| What you enter | Username, password, URL | One long URL |
| TV guide (EPG) | Loads automatically | Separate EPG link |
| Movies & series | Sorted with posters | Mixed into one list |
| Catch-up | Supported | Rarely |
| Speed with big libraries | Fast | Slow to load |
| Player support | Most modern players | Almost every player |

Using your GreatestIPTV Xtream details
When you order or start the free trial, GreatestIPTV sends your username, password and server URL on WhatsApp. If your player only takes M3U, ask us and we send the M3U link and EPG link for the same line. Keep your details private: each plan covers a set number of devices (1 to 5).
Is it safe to type my Xtream details into an app?
Use players from official app stores or the links your provider sends, and never paste your login into a random website. If you think someone else is using your line, message support and we reset the password.
